Grundy County Clerk and Recorder office offers e-recording option
MORRIS – Grundy County Clerk and Recorder Lana Phillips’ office now offers e-recording services.
On April 16 the first e-recording document was presented for recordation in her office, according to a news release from Phillips.
After extensive research, Phillips is partnering with Simplifile, the world’s largest e-recording service provider, to allow recording customers the ability to submit their documents online.
It is important to keep up with the latest technology, while providing faster, convenient and cost-effective service to customers, such as banks, title companies, attorneys and others, Phillips said in the release. When documents are submitted for e-recording, the recorder’s office can review, record and return the electronic document to the filer in minutes, thus allowing them the option to go paperless.
E-recording will save on check writing expenses, payment errors and rejected documents, as customers are able to more accurately prepare documents prior to submission, and recording fees are processed via Automated Clearing House (ACH).
In the future, when the Illinois Department of Revenue offers e-revenue stamps for the recordation of deeds, the office will be fully automated.
“Since taking office in 1976, I have pledged that I would provide cost-effective and comprehensive service to my constituents,” Phillips said in the release. “E-recording has allowed me to continue the highest level of professionalism and the tradition of excellence in this most important county office.”
“By going ‘green,’ this office will reduce mailing costs and paper waste and allows us to be more responsible toward our environment,” she added.
Phillips also stressed there is no additional cost to the county for using the services of Simplifile or her current technology vendor.
