Area students graduate from military training

Coal City alum graduates from Air Force training

Air Force Airman Nicholas T. Craterfield graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.

Craterfield is the son of Phillip Collins of Braidwood and Michelle Ray of Joliet.

He is a 2011 graduate of Coal City High School.

Two Minooka alumni

graduate from Navy

Navy Seaman Recruit Agustin J. Rodriguez, son of Carlos E. and Patricia L. Rodriguez of Minooka, was recently promoted to his current rank upon graduation from U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes.

Rodriguez received the early promotion for outstanding performance during all phases of the training cycle.

The capstone event of boot camp is “Battle Stations.” This exercise gives recruits the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the fleet. “Battle Stations” is designed to galvanize the basic warrior attributes of sacrifice, dedication, teamwork and endurance in each recruit through the practical application of basic Navy skills and the core values of honor, courage and commitment.

Rodriguez is a 2012 graduate of Minooka Community High School.

Navy Seaman Apprentice Ryan L. Blacklaw, son of Curt L. Blacklaw of Minooka, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes.

During the eight-week program, Blacklaw completed a variety of training. The capstone event of boot camp is “Battle Stations.” This exercise gives recruits the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the fleet. “Battle Stations” is designed to galvanize the basic warrior attributes of sacrifice, dedication, teamwork and endurance in each recruit through the practical application of basic Navy skills and the core values of honor, courage and commitment.

Blacklaw is a 2007 graduate of Minooka Community High School.
