Kelly Kolotka and Alexandria Cook received the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics Award for Outstanding Achievement in Mathematics at Morris Community High School last month.

MORRIS – On May 2, classes at Morris Community High School recognized the department and organization award winners. Each department selects a senior student based on their leadership throughout the year.

Mathematics – Kelly Kolotka, English – Lukas Terhall, Social Studies – Kaitlin Friend, Science – Lukas Terhall, Industrial Technology – Tucker Hofmann, Business – Ashley Gibson, Foreign Language – Marcella Boers, Physical Education – Justin Larsen, Music – Robbi Hicks, Art – Emily Walker, and Family & Consumer Sciences – Jenny Llanos.

Mathlete Coaches Award winners: freshman – Meghan Jurak, sophomore – Jessica Jurak, junior – Bridget Gile, seniors – Alexandria Cook and Kelly Kolotka.

Senior Mathlete Award recipients: Samuel Allen, Matthew Bernickus, Alexandria Cook, Molly Fruland, Kelly Kolotka, Trevor Lines, Grant Schluntz, Timothy Smyk and Lukas Terhall.

Four-Year Mathlete Award recipients: Samuel Allen, Alexandria Cook, Molly Fruland, Kelly Kolotka, Trevor Lines and Lukas Terhall.

Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics Award for Outstanding Achievement in Mathematics: Alexandria Cook and Kelly Kolotka.

Athletics: J.S. Crabtree award – a football and basketball player recognized for academic achievement, extra-curricular participation and sportsmanship. For football: Dean Meucci and for basketball: Samuel Allen and Kaitlin Friend.

Athletics: William R. Ferguson award – senior male and female honored for representing Morris High with outstanding sportsmanship, achievement and dedication: Kenny Baldridge and Haleigh Knapp.

Scholastic Bowl awards

JV Rookie of the Year: Joshua Lain, JV MVP – Alexander Vermillion, JV Best Teammate – Emma Dingbaum, JV Coaches Award – Hernan Gutierrez, Varsity Rookie of the Year – Chet Lear, Varsity MVPs – Ian Bashor and Mark Lincoln, Varsity Best Teammate – Samuel Allen, Varsity Coaches Award – Shiva Lennon-Rios.
