MORRIS – Athletic Director George Dergo, of Morris Community High School, has been instructed by the school board to remedy his "unprofessional, inappropriate and unsatisfactory" behavior. After an executive session at Monday's District 101 school board, members approved a resolution authorizing notice to remedy to Dergo, Superintendent Pat Halloran said Tuesday. The Board of Education approved the action with a 5-0 vote, with board president Dennis Best and member Thomas Anderson absent. What exactly that conduct Dergo committed is not being shared by school officials or Dergo. "The Board of Education has received information, reports and recommendations from its administrative staff regarding the conduct of George Dergo, a certified administrative staff member, which indicates his conduct has been unprofessional, inappropriate and unsatisfactory," according to the resolution. Halloran declined to comment on the situation, noting he is not able to discuss personnel issues. "I don't have any comment. That would be up to the board or the superintendent to comment on," Dergo said in a phone call Tuesday. The resolution states that the board determined the information it received supports the finding that Dergo's conduct, if not removed or remedied, would constitute cause and reason for his dismissal. The resolution requires Dergo be given a notice of remedial warning via certified mail, return receipt requested by the president and secretary of the board, and that Dergo be personally delivered a copy by the superintendent or designee.
