SENECA – The Seneca Shipyard Days Festival will be Wednesday to June 21 and is an annual celebration offering a glimpse back in America’s history.
Each year Seneca celebrates its role in World War II as the home of the “Shipyard on the Prairie,” manufacturing Landing Ship Tanks.
“Last year’s move to the west side of Main Street proved to be a great success. Not only is it now located in an historical area of Seneca, but we have a much larger location that allows us to increase our vendor and exhibit space and to place those participants in a more visible area with a lot of foot traffic,” Michael Ellis, festival chairman, said in a news release.
New features include the LST 325 Memorial Organization booth, a mobile veterans center, reptile show and a bigger carnival. The Seneca Historical Guild will again house a mini-museum and offer tours of the Hogan Grain Elevator. A Shipyards display is at the Seneca Public Library as well.
