Rev. Scott McClellan moving to new church

MORRIS - The Rev. Scott A. McClellan, who has served as the Senior Pastor at the First United Methodist Church in Morris for the past five years, has been appointed by Bishop Sally Dyck, the presiding Bishop of the Northern Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Church, to the position of Senior Pastor of the First United Methodist Church in McHenry.

The new appointment is effective July 1.This move is reflective of the traditional itinerant  ministry of Methodist pastors and of the connection between United Methodist churches.

Pastor Scott and his wife, Lori, will be living in Crystal Lake following their move. Parishioners are sorry to see them leave and wish them well.

Farewell receptions will be held following 6 p.m. worship service on Saturday and the 9 a.m. worship service on Sunday.

Friends in Christ Lutheran Church Vacation Bible School

MORRIS – Friends In Christ Lutheran Church invite youth preschool through sixth grade to be a part of their Vacation Bible School, which will be held next week.

The VBS will be from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Monday through June 27. The theme for the week is “Gangway to Galilee.” The school is at the church, 180 E. Waverly in Morris.

Minooka CrossPoint to Host Movie Night

Minooka CrossPoint Lutheran Church will host a Family Friendly Movie Night featuring "The Lego Movie" on June 27 at the Minooka Village Hall. 121 McEvilly Road.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m., guests will be able to play various games related to building and racing Lego creations and you can win prizes. Then at 7:30 p.m., the movie will begin.  Popcorn and water are free.

Minooka CrossPoint Lutheran Church meets every Sunday Morning at 9:30 a.m. for Worship and Word Gathering at the Minooka Village Hall. Our mission is connecting people with the life-changing love of Jesus.

ICS offers Vacation Bible School

MORRIS – Immaculate Conception Church is offering "Arctic Edge" Vacation Bible School July 7 through July 11.

The VBS will be at the church, 716 E. Jackson St. in Morris, from 9 a.m. to noon July 7 to July 11. The cost is $25 per child and is offered to children in grades preschool through fifth grade to participate. Teens from sixth grade and up help as leaders and teacher aides.

Vacation Bible School at Helmar Lutheran Church

NEWARK – Come join us for the Vacation Bible School Program at Helmar Lutheran Church entitled, “Weird Animals Where Jesus Love Is One-of-A Kind,” 9 a.m. to noon July 7 through July 11.

Bethlehem Lutheran Church sponsors bake sale

MORRIS – The Mission Outreach and Evangelism Committee of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church is hosting a Morris Liberty Days bake sale at 9:30 a.m. June 27 at the Morris Hallmark.

The bake sale will include baked items as well as kringla and will be at the Hallmark at 209 Liberty St. in downtown Morris.

Mom’s Day Out at Seneca Assembly of God

SENECA – From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 28 at the Seneca Assembly of God, 277 E. Shipyard Road in Seneca, will be sponsoring a Mom’s Day Out. 

This will include free haircuts, oil changes, car wash with interior vacuuming and a free family portrait. There will be activities for the kids as well. All of this is free to mothers in Seneca and the surrounding area and no donations will be accepted. 

This is not a fundraiser, it is a way for the church to bless the mothers of our area. For information, call the church at 815-357-6617.

First Baptist Church of Morris will host Vacation Bible School

MORRIS – Vacation Bible School at First Baptist Church of Morris will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. next week, with a closing family celebration dinner and program on Friday night at 6 p.m. All children preschool through fifth grade are invited.

Kids will become Agency D3 special agents during Lifeway Vacation Bible School 2014, "Agency D3 – Discover – Decide – Defend." They will examine eyewitness reports, physical proof and Biblical accounts to uncover and defend the truth about who Jesus really is.

Special senior worship service to be held

CHANNAHON – You are cordially invited to Midweek Connections Thursdays held at 1:30 p.m. at Families of Faith Church, 24466 W Eames St., Channahon.

First Presbyterian in Morris to hold Vacation Bible School

MORRIS – First Presbyterian Church, 200 W. Jackson St. in in Morris, has scheduled its Vacation Bible School from 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. daily from June 23 to June 27. Wilderness Escape, where God guides and provides, will be the focus for VCB this school year at the church. Come and caravan with Moses and the Israelites as they escape Egypt and learn to trust God. Kids will get to meet Moses and learn about his faith-stretching adventures in the desert. As they hear Moses stand up for his faith in God, they'll discover how they can trust God in their everyday lives. Children ages 4 through 12 are welcome. Joliet Jewish Congregation services and dinner

JOLIET– Joliet Jewish Congregation Shabbat Services are at 7 p.m. Fridays and 9 a.m. Saturdays at the congregation, 250 N. Midland Ave., Joliet.
