The White Sox have announced that former Minooka High School standout Tony Bucciferro will move from Single-A Winston-Salem to Double-A Birmingham.

Bucciferro posted a 7-10 record and a 3.90 earned run average in 21 starts with Winston-Salem. He currently stands third in all of High-A baseball in innings pitched with 1291⁄3. On July 20 at Frederick, Bucciferro fell two outs shy of the first solo, nine-inning no-hitter by a Winston-Salem hurler since 1988.

Bucciferro, who also ranks first all-time at Michigan State University in career innings pitched (3721⁄3) and is tied for third in career wins (26), helped lead Minooka to a third-place state finish in 2006, going 13-0 as a sophomore.

BOYS SOCCER

Morris alumni match: The Morris boys soccer program will be hosting an alumni match today at noon on the Morris Community High School field. Any player that has played soccer for the Redskins in the past is welcome to participate. According to Morris coach David Valdivia, if enough alumni show up, they will break the almuni up into two teams and those two teams will play against each other for a half. The winner of the half will then take on the varsity team in the second half. If there are not enough alumni to make two teams, then the varsity and alumni will play a full match against each other.

PARENT MEETING

Coal City: A meeting for anyone who has a student that plans on playing a sport during any of the three seasons at Coal City High School will be Thursday at 7 p.m. Enter the school at the Events Entry doors.
