Work on closed I-80 exit ramp in Joliet to continue at least three days

JOLIET – An Interstate 80 exit ramp at Center Street will remain closed an estimated three to four days until repairs are completed, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.

The ramp was shut down Wednesday to begin repairs needed because of a failure in the bridge deck carrying the eastbound ramp from I-80 to Center Street, according to a news release from IDOT.

IDOT said the ramp will be reopened as soon as possible. In the meantime, motorists needing to use the Center Street ramp are advised to continue east on I-80 and use the northbound exit for Route 53, which is also Chicago Street, as an alternative exit.

Motorists should also allow extra time because of possible delays in traffic during the time the work is being done, IDOT said.
