Credit Union scam still ongoing
Morris police continue to receive reports of a telephone scam involving the Morris Community Credit Union. Police Chief Brent Dite reported on July 17 the police department received complaints from the credit union, as well as several local residents. On Monday, Oct. 20, residents again notified Morris police to report calls from someone attempting to get information on credit union accounts. The caller claims the individual's credit union account has been frozen and to avoid the situation, they should provide their account information. Chief Dite said, on July 17, the caller is able to generate the credit union's telephone number on some people's caller ID. According to Chief Dite, the police and credit union want everyone to simply ignore the calls and do not give any account information over the telephone. Anyone with questions should contact the credit union directly.
