A DRIVER was cited for violating the zero tolerance law after a traffic stop about 3:10 a.m. Sunday in Diamond.

Ryan Aichele, 20, 114 W. Washington St., Gardner, was also cited for illegal consumption of liquor, going 55 in a 35 mph zone and driving with a expired registration.  He was given a July 13 court date.

Three juvenile girls, 12, 13 and 14, in the vehicle with Aichele, were charged with violating the curfew. Two juveniles were released to parents and third was given a ride to a residence in Diamond.

Deputy Kenneth Unland reported he saw a pickup, westbound on Illinois 113 in Diamond, speeding and with an expired registration.

After stopping the vehicle, the deputy reported Aichele, the driver, smelled of liquor. Aichele failed the field sobriety tests and was charged with violating the zero tolerance law.

Asked about the three young girls in the vehicle. Aichele said one texted him and asked for a ride.
